One of the hard thing for us dog lovers to work out is why anyone wouldn’t want to adopt a dog like this dog, Bear! He is a complete diamond, but the story has been one of hardship, it’s been hard, to say the least.
Bear was having difficulty because he just couldn’t find that magic that brings him together with his forever family!
It was really hard for Bear and for his rescuers, why didn’t he manage to find his forever home, each time he missed out, stuck at the Detroit Animal Welfare Group. Such a shame as he is a joyful happy sweet dog, and would make a wonderful family member!
For reasons unknown he just wasn’t lucky at all, he was stuck in the shelter for around three years, poor Bear! He was found as a stray in Flint, Michigan and been stuck there ever since that day…
The Detroit Animal Welfare Group, Kelley LaBonty, said: – “He was about 7 months old and very emaciated …He stayed in foster care for a while, but then the foster had family who moved in, and they couldn’t keep him anymore.”
Kelly was deeply sad about the sheer number of families that had not seen fit to take him home with them; taking a little interest, so close, but then withdrawing in the end.
Being stuck in the shelter is no life for any dog, especially a great dog like Bear, it just wasn’t fair! He just needed the warmth of a loving forever family so much….
Dogs just like us can feel down and even depressed, so it’s not so hard to believe that being stuck in the shelter can be so depressing for them, stuck feeling so dejected and sad…
All the time that bear was stuck in the shelter was really weighing heavy on Bear and it was getting too much for him, seeing other dogs both come and then go again, so sad.
Kelly saw the evidence in Bear how he was slowly but surely being changed by the effect of being stuck in that shelter, she took a picture of him, it went viral!
“It went viral because it was a very sad picture …He is depressed in the kennel, as most dogs get, especially after two years of being in a kennel …Mostly he just lays on his bed with his head down.”
Once the photo she took started getting spread around more and more people, the shelter had a good feeling, they all crossed their fingers and hoped that he would find the right family to take him home.
There was just one stipulation, he just had to be the only pet in the house…
Bear’s picture finally caught the attention of a couple who immediately fell in love with him, being such a sweet dog, it had to happen sooner or later, and thank goodness.
Bear was, at last, able to go home with a loving family AND stay there forever!!
The couple has promised that they will spoil him rotten and he will have an amazing life with them, well done Bear. The animal shelter was so happy they made a big announcement on Facebook:
“The moment we have all been waiting for. It looks like Bear has left the dawghous after 2.5 long years in a kennel.
Bear now had a massive Yard to run around in with his new mom and dad and he is overjoyed.
